I am a huge lover of the 60s and 70s, and take so much influence from the design of that time. When I was studying Fashion Design, I often mood boarded images from that era to use as a backdrop to both print and shape design. ☮️
So when it came to creating the designs for Gisel & the Fish, I already had a massive bank of inspo ready to look at. The psychedelic and fluid lines of the 60s prints were my main focus, and although this isn’t as intricate as those designs often were, it still has the soul of that era. 🧡
I created the print by doodling on an iPad, drawing wiggly lines down the page using the symmetry function. I added in the colours in photoshop and created the repeat. 🎨
Originally the print had eyes all over it, but at the last minute I decided to remove these - which I am glad of now. 🤪
